violation in three movements - tom or kes bennett
collage, 2014

I knew Tom/Kes Bennett for years up until the uncovering of his crime of rape. We had been working on a collaborative album for ages that will now be abandoned due to personal, ethical reasons. They were very controlling of the project and was basically using me for their interests.
This piece is a portrayal of my experience of feeling complete horror for which words cannot describe.
The photo is a self-portrait of them which I have scratched out and removed the eyes of as a comment on my abandonment of them and their own loss of identity due to self-exile.
The text is of a post discussing the rape incident in detail through the victim’s eyes which I have crossed out due to the nature of repression on part of the victim, and the further violation the victim experienced when others blame them or defend the violator.
One of the most difficult jobs an artist has in proper society is to make sure atrocities are not forgotten.

almost crying
thank you. and thank you to the people that took over Kes’ old blogs and put my call out on every single one as the only post. It’s been a long time since I could bring myself to look at any tags, and I feel cared for in a way I haven’t felt before. thank you all.
